Harley Davidson 48 Riding Down 5th Ave, Park Ave and Vanderbilt NYC Go P...

Hi 48ers!

This is a ride on 5th ave heading into the the city where i get some nice footage of the NYC Apple store by the Plaza hotel i continue on Park Ave through the Met life building. I am a little behind on the blog page because this ride was in the middle of summer and we are almost into winter now. My bike is still active but soon to go into storage for a few months to save a few dollars on Garage. Believe it or not just to keep my bike in NYC i have to pay $100.00 a month in garage. Worth it but a pain in the ass. Enjoy the video.

Harley Davidson Forty Eight Cruising Through Central Park & 5th Ave Bx48...

Hi 48ers!

This is was a great video series that i started filming in the late summer i got a chance to film some

iconic areas in the city. I figure since allot of the videos i have done have been in the Bronx.

This film i cruise by the Guggenheim museum. All while wearing my leather which made it a pretty

warm ride. In this video i went back to the front facing helmet cam. I believe that it is a better view

than the side cam. I am riding on 5th ave and 96th street in New York city. 5th ave on the left

side is the most expensive property in New York City and on the right side Central Park.

Enjoy
the ride!

Hi 48ers!
This is a video cruising through yonkers on route to the mall. I ran into another cool bike that said wassup on the ride. With the amount of interest there is in the 48 videos i am trying to catch up on my blogs. A simple cruise no lane splitting in yonkers because the cops in Yonker don't play that shit. The will take my ass down for it. Enjoy the ride.

Harley Davidson Forty Eight Traffic Jam in Queens Bx48 vlog Go Pro Hero 3

Hi 48ers,

This was a ride that i did just after going to the NY TLC office in the process of getting my TLC license. This was my 2nd video with the side mount helmet. I notice after doing future videos that i am getting a better response from the front camera view. I spent the day before all day at harley because i got a flat in the back tire. I wont lie that is not cheap. I got stuck heading back to the 59th street bridge on Astoria Blvd in Queens. Enjoy the ride.

Harley Davidson Forty Eight Top Speed 2 Bx48 Vlog Cruising Bronx to Yonkers

Hi 48ers,
I am trying out this new video attachment on the blogger page. The direct link to the video will still be at the bottom. This video was some highway cruising that i wanted to call the unofficial Top speed 2. I wasn't intending on this video being a top speed video but i was in a rush to get the to pick up some books for my little one that loves to read. As you see i was zipping through traffic i probably hit a top speed of about 90mph. Take a look and enjoy the ride.

Hi 48ers!

After filling up at the Fordham road gas station in the Bronx i was heading to the Castle Hill section of the Bronx and decided to make a quick video of me cruising on up Fordham and on the Bronx River. It was a cloudy and nice day. I had to drop off some documents to a big building i was closing on a rental. So why not take advantage of the ride. The part 2 of this video is for my boy Norcal Roadking of Castle Hill. Enjoy the ride.

Bx48 Vlog rides Harley-Davidson Forty Eight Cruising up FDR 59th north NYC

Hi 48ers!
This video is a conclusion ride that i did right after i got off the 59th street bridge. This video is the first one i did heading north on the FDR Harlem river drive. My last few videos on the FDR have been heading south into the city.

This is the ride back uptown to the Bronx. This is one of the most dangerous roads in all of the city beside the Jackie Robinson which is in my opinion the worst. I have been getting use the the helmet i am getting pretty settled into it. Enjoy the ride back uptown.

Bx48 ride's Harley-Davidson Fatboy in NYC The Bronx Night ride part 3 Go...

Hi 48ers!
This is the third and final film on the night ride. This is a special video because i get to film my bike being ridden and for the 1st time this season i get to ride Rog's Harley Davidson Fatboy. We are not taking the usual route up Fordham we are going through the rougher back blocks where there is always some action going on. When i say action i mean like the hood, people getting shot or robed or stabbed. It is not the ideal walking zone at night. The streets we are taking are Webster ave to 184th street East.  We end up on The Kingsbridge where we do the switch and i ride the Fatboy for a few city streets. Enjoy the ride.

Harley Davidson Forty Eight & Fat Boy 1st Night ride Bronx ride Part 2 B...

Hi 48ers,
This is the part 2 to the night ride i did with Rog on the Fatboy. We just finished having dinner at Panera which is the only location in the Bronx. This ride start in Co Op City in the Bronx which is a very unique section of the Bronx. It houses about 55k residents about 35 buildings that look like project buildings but they are actually Co Op apartments, so it is far from a Project. This is where i use to come with my girlfriend now my wife when i first got my car because they have a nice mall with restaurants, mall and a movie theater.

Riding with Rog is always fun because it gives me something to film in addition to roads and cars plus Rog's bike sound freaking awesome. Enjoy the ride.

Roger on the Harley Davidson Fatboy to head out and get some air. This will be a 2 part video. We rode out to Co Op City in the Bronx from. The roads were smooth and the weather was perfect. We cut through all traffic and made it in one peace. Enjoy the ride.

Harley Davidson Forty Eight Cruising over the 59th Bridge NYC Crazy View...

Hi 48ers!
This is in my opinion one of my best visual videos to date. I am traveling from Queens over the 59th street bridge. I can tell you what a captivating ride it is but it's best if you see it for your self. During the whole ride i was lost like i had never seen it before.

I have driven over a ton of times but there truly isn't anything like the open air and no cage feel of the ride to make this one of my most memorable ride and videos. All last year i took the lower level on the bridge but after this i will make sure that i will be taking the upper level. Hope you enjoy the ride.

Bx48 New Camera Angle riding in Queens NY on his Harley Davidson 48

Hi 48ers,
This is the first video that i am using my new Harley 3/4 Helmet. Because of the face shield i had to change the camera positioning on the helmet so you will see that it is a left side view of my ride. I may attach a another clip on the right side. My advantages are that i don't have to wear glasses or bandana. Cons are that i can hardly hear the audio from my voice. In future videos i try speaking louder but sooner or later i will have to invest in a mic attachment for the Vlog. I am riding in the Astoria section of queens toward Steinway street. I talk a little about the diversity of queens. Enjoy the ride.

Harley Davidson Forty Eight Traffic Jam on the Major Degan i87 Bx48 vlog Go Pro Hero 3

Hi 48ers,
A little video filmed on my way back form picking up my wife from midtown. This is a typical rush hour ride back to the Bronx on the I 87 in the Bronx. I was riding 2 up which mean with a passenger on the the back. It was a plesant day in the Bronx and the beauty or riding is that traffic is a little bearable on a motorcycle because it is my mission to make sure i stay moving.

What would normally take 30 minutes is a 50% reduction in time would be a little more if i were riding solo but with a passenger you have to ride a little more cautious because braking and weight play a bigger factor in the ride. Harley's aren't know for great stock breaks. My wife freaked out a little when we went between 2 big trucks i don't mention it but i got a little punch in the ribs lol. Enjoy the ride.

Harley-Davidson Softail & Forty Eight w/ Honda CBR 1000 Cruising The Bro...

Hi 48ers,
This is the unofficial part 4 to the ride with the fellas. I didn't want to add any more parts to the riding series. The Sarg on the CBR 1000 and Rog on the Harley Davidson Fatboy. In this video we are riding back from Empire Harley Davidson and me talking about the first time i met the Sarg. The Sarg also showcases his hidden talent of doing cool Wheelies. Rog had just picked up a new Helmet at Harley which i got one also because i was a little tired of the open face helmet and at the price it was a bargain.

You will see the new videos that i post from now on will have the new video angle on them because i had to mount the camera on the side due to the visor on the new helmet. It was a great day to ride early in spring so we took advantage of that fact. The ride to City Island was awesome since there wasn't any traffic. That is a completely different story in the summer time where it is jam packed with cars. Enjoy the ride.

Hi 48ers!

On this blog i introduce another rider in The Bronx that owns a 2013 Harley Davidson Sportster 48 2013 motorcycle. I was looking for a parking space to jump on the metro north into midtown and simultaneously found a parking and saw the bikes owner by the bike.

After a few minutes talking about bikes the owner (Fabian) allowed me to film the motorcycle and also gave me a preview of the bad ass exhaust sound that comes from his Vance and Hines 2 into 2 exhaust. Its a short but sweet film. Enjoy the video.

CBR 1000 Harley Davidson Fatboy & 48 Cruising to City Island NYC Bx48 vl...

Hi 48ers!

In this ride we are crossing over the bridge that takes us into the town of City Island in the Bronx. City Island is one of the little treasures of NYC. The island is small and mainly attacks hundreds of visitor daily in the warmer spring and summer months. It has a ton of Seafood restaurants and small docs where there is allot of boating activities.

I hold allot of great memories of my childhood hanging out in Tony's pier at the end of the Island where our family would come to eat and hang out on the pier. Now with a motorcycle i find out that this is a great meeting location for the fellas to come relax and hang out kick back and relax from a long week of work. This is part 4 to our ride with the Sarg and Rog. Since it is right before the busy season we cruise back and forth on the island pretty quickly. Enjoy the ride.

Motorcycle Insurance in New York City Harley Davidson Sportster Bx48 Vlog

Hi 48ers!
For this video i wanted to discuss the prices of New York City motorcycle insurance through my experiences. I am in my 30's when i got my first motorcycle. That bike was a Honda CBR 600rr. I was determined to break all normalcy and learn to ride and treat myself to a motorcycle that i would not need to upgrade.

Little did i know that it wouldn't be the bike that would break me but the insurance that would shorten my desire for a fast bike in New York City. My insurance for liability was $1500 for the CBR for the year. Which was more money than i expected especially being the car was fully insured for less than this. I have an amazing driving record which didn't matter in this case of having a super sport motorcycle.

Insurance in New York City goes by statistics based of accidents and how much these great machines are stolen. This lead me down the path of a cruiser. I saw the Harley Davidson 48 in the NY motorcycle show. I sat on it and knew this was the bike that i wanted to ride. I instantly called my insurance company and my insurance dropped so dramatically that i went on a feverish assault to change my motorcycle to assure that i would be able to continue to ride and be able to afford it.

The Sportster insurance for the year full coverage is $500. FULL COVERAGE FOR THE YEAR! Hence Bx48 was created. Hope you enjoy the video.

Honda CBR1000, Harley Fatboy & Forty Eight Cruising in NYC, Bx48 Vlog Go...

Hi 48ers,

This is part 3 to the chill ride with the fellas The Sarg on the Honda Cbr1000 and Rog on the Harley Davidson Fat boy. The oil change was done and we did a last minute change of plan to head over the City Island. Which is in the works to be uploaded soon.

The ride back was relaxed with us cruising on the 95 south. It was our first group ride but since we have been riding together for a few years now we all have our styles down and we know what to expect and have our signals all down. Towards the end of the film you will have the sarg do a very cool wheelie and Rog zoom by with that sexy exhaust.

The video is a simple highway chill but since i have been getting good feed back from this film series i decided to include it and have you guy enjoy the ride. Stay tuned for the City Island video that was a fun ride.

Honda CBR1000, Harley Fatboy & Forty Eight Cruising in NYC, Bx48 Vlog Pt.2

Hi 48ers,

This is part 2 to the ride with the Sarg on the Honda CBR 1000 fireblade and Rog on the Harley Davidson Fatboy and myself on the HD 48. The video starts with us cruising on Pelham Parkway in the Bronx. Heading toward the 95 north that takes us to New Rochelle. I paused a minute while riding on Pelham in the video to let you listen to that Fatboys Vance and Hines exhaust. Which is wicked deep and sounds incredible. It will give you goose bumps and wake up the dead at the same time.

Once we are on the highway we cruise, i mean that is until the Sarg on the 1000 zooms by me at about 100mph+! Pay close attention to my speedo when he zooms by i am in the 70's and he literally fly's off the film in  4 sec flat lol. You can even hear me say Whooo once i see him fly by.

I have noticed that on all my videos i give shout outs. Which i like to do, maybe it's a Bronx thing. I appreciate all the great people that not only offer great motorcycle sites, vlogs, pic and great twitter pages. I also appreciate the riders that ride for a causes and show us the meaning of why we love to ride.

Hope everyone has been enjoying the videos. Stay tuned and subscribe to the page there is allot more in store for Bx48 this riding season.

Honda CBR1000, Harley Davidson Fatboy & Forty Eight Cruising in NYC, Bx...

Hi 48er's,

This was the first group ride of the season. In this film i introduce the guys i ride with the most over the summer. The Sarg on the Honda Cbr1000rr and Big Rog on the Harley Fatboy. I was due for an oil change and since Bx48 doesn't have his own garage or tools. So I asked the guys if they wanted to ride with me out to Harley Davidson where i get most of the work on my bike done. Of course, both of them agreed instantly so this video is born. Empire Harley is located in New Rochelle about 30 to 40 min away.

The Sarg and i rode allot my first summer riding chilling with me all over NYC. Rog gave me my first lessons on the Bike and we do allot of night rides in the summer cause he gets out of work late. So soon to come will be some BX48 night rides in the city. So we all know how each other ride and are use to our styles of riding, which most riders know it is always a pleasure to ride with guys that know how you ride and make the trip cool and worth it.

Our trip starts out in the Bronx through the back streets bypassing Fordham road because of all the construction heading into the Pelham parkway section of the Bronx where this ride ends and part two begins so stay tuned. It is a fun ride, Enjoy the ride

Harley Davidson Forty Eight cruising on Madison 80's to 135th NYC Bx48 V...

Hi 48er's!

Today i was picking up my lovely wife that asked me to pick her up for this ride. She hasn't been on the motorcycle since Oct so she had the fever for a ride. This is part 2 of cruising on Madison ave from 80th to about 130's.

Riding 2 up for the first time in a while always takes some adjusting. I am dealing with the extra weight and a more stiffer ride. The Harley 48 isn't really a comfy 2 up ride but the wife loves to tag along so what can i say but Let's ride. We are both pretty tall and close to the weight limit on the motorcycle so i try to simply cruiseBx48 is not fat just lean. lol. The ride on Madison is usually pretty smooth and it is a nice way to show the transition from Upper west side to the Harlem area. We go from these big structures to smaller residential buildings and some project buildings toward the 130's.

It was a beautiful day for a ride and i took off early to go pick her up. I have attached the video link below since this new Blog format doesn't allot the title to take you to the direct link. Enjoy the ride.

Harley Davidson Forty Eight Bx48 Vlog Midtown Traffic Jam 37th street Go...

Hi 48ers!

This video clip was probably the most draining of all sections of the ride for me. Not only was i getting that feeling you get right before you get sick but i was now stuck in the beginning of rush hour traffic. What could i do... Do what i do best Ride BABY! lol. There was a point in the film that needed to get ahead of the pack and i did a little lane split and of course it was right by a police van. Always a little nerve wrecking because the police are a little on edge with all the things going on so i don't want to get pulled over by one that is not having a good day and get ticketed out the ass.

Midtown is the only place that i try to be on my P's and Q's because of how tense i know police are. I don't blame them with all the crazy things going on in the world lately. I won't lie when i say Sport and super sport motorcycles get the short end of the stick in the city because they are labeled as the trouble makers. Cruisers are just cool riders to authority or maybe the fact that most in law enforcement have Harleys... I don't know just saying... I was getting confused to the point i even forgot where my wife worked 28th.. 38th... Who knows just get me the heck out of the traffic.

I want to send a prayer out there for the families that lost someone in Boston and for those hurt a speedy recovery. Even tho New York City and Boston have a rivalry we are all part of the United States and united we stand.

Harley Davidson Forty Eight cruising on Madison 37th to 80th NYC Bx48 Vl...

Hi 48er's!

This was the conclusion to the FDR traffic jam video. Only this was a pretty decent ride back home. I picked up the misses and she was riding in the back. It is the first ride of the season for me with a passenger so it was a little shaky. I always ride solo but on occasions i will pick her up. On a small bike like a sportster it is always an adventure with the added fact that we are also tall and well built people. lol I am not saying i am fat just well built.

The ride to the 80'a was decent  i was a little pissed off with the fact that there are two buss lanes and there were no buses on the bus lane. I wanted to zip past everyone but there is an integrated camera system now that will send a nice $65 dollar ticket to your house for riding on the bus lane. I did a little bit of singing in the video. One of my youtube subscribers (bvanyperen) warned me that i will not be making it to American Idol. All my hopes and dreams were shot down right there lol.

The video ended in the 80's because i dont like making super long vidoes. Let me know what you guys think Enjoy the ride.

Harley Davidson Sportster 48 Ride from 116th to 34th Along the East Rive...

This the direct link to the Youtube video for this Blog.

Hi 48ers,
Once traffic freed up on the FDR East River Drive it was a smooth ride from 116th to 37th street. I was able to go....., it makes me laugh to write it. At least 25 to 30mph which is quick on a week day to go into the city. I had just got away from the gridlock traffic of 138th street so 25mph was like was flying on the highway at 60mph at that point. The FDR does offer beautiful views of Manhattan and allot of the bridges only found on the east side of the city heading toward Queens and Brooklyn on route downtown.

I am going to pick a holiday to actually ride it all the way down to the Brooklyn bridge sooner or later, because that will be the only day that i would be able to catch it on a 15 to 20 min video. I am sorry to say that more motorcycle fatalities happen on the FDR than on any other drive in New York city. Maybe its because it is a tight and close drive or cages (When i say cages i mean cars) are being aggressive, new riders thinking it is simple road with no knowledge of the horrible road or some idiot that is doing something that he isn't supposed to at an increasingly fast speed.

The Fdr has it's faults too. Serious indentations, cracks, bumps and imperfections not to mention when it rain becomes possibly the most horrible ride in New York State. I won't just blame the drivers and riders. When faced with a wedge of road that makes you feel like you have no control of your bike and you are seems as tho you are heading for a divider and stomach starts turning nerves kick in ( something motorcycle riders know to well) The road is to take part blame.

Nerves, allot practice and quick thinking is what has me still standing today. The FDR has beat me up a little in my infancy of riding but today i respect it and i am very cautious whenever i am on it.

Akrapovic BMW S1000RR Full Exhaust System Amazing sound Bx48 Moto Vlog

Hi 48ers,

This video is a walk around of my cousin Andy R6's Bmw 1000rr it is named The Beast! I want to say it is beautiful. If i had to define it, i would call it sex on wheels. The curves, the way it looks, and that sound man.. it is allot. This was probably the most painful of videos that i have had to make. LOL

Why...? you ask, because i was standing right next to that exhaust and if you watch the video closely you will realize that the camera shakes.

What you don't know that it is the the camera that was shaking it was me. Notice how i am yelling at my cousin to stop. My ears were ringing. Who would have thought such a sweet sound would be so painful. I am waiting for the day i get to mount that beast and take it for a spin.

Harley Davidson 2012 Forty Eight Fighting through NYC Traffic on FDR NYC...

Hi 48er's,
It was a beautiful day to attempt another ride on the FDR east river drive. I also had a chance to sneak out of the office early to go pick up my wife downtown on 38th. It was also 80 degrees, who can say no to that? As predicted in the video i expected to get stuck in traffic in the 130's. and Bx48 had to do some weaving and bobbing and fighting to get past the gridlock of cars. I wasn't as aggressive as i usually am because i was feeling tired. This day was the 1st day of me getting a bad head cold. As a responsible rider you should always know your limitations when riding especially if you aren't feeling great.

Having a stock, plus low sounding exhaust while lane splitting i have to be extra careful because the Yellow assassins (NYC yellow cab) and the aggressive city drivers will take me down. My 2nd little bit of trouble on a motorcycle happened on the FDR. I will go into that story at a later time. Once i got home from this ride i got home showered and knocked out at 6:30pm till morning to wake up sick as a dog. Lucky for me that the next few days a cold came in from the north so it wouldn't have been good riding that week so you know i had to get my ride on. Enjoy the ride.

Harley Davidson Forty Eight Riding from Harlem 125th to The Bronx Go Pro...

This link is for the direct video for this blog.

Hi 48ers!
The was the final film of my 125th street ride. I was going to come back locally but then decided to come back on the west side highway to avoid traffic and show you guys the amazing view that comes from the north bound side which on your way uptown you can see the George Washington bridge. The West side highway for those of you not from NYC runs along the West side of the island of Manhattan. This highway was where i had my very first accident. I didn't get hurt but my Honda CBR600rr did get a little scratched up.

This part of the West side is in my opinion one of the best roads for curves uptown. There are some nice leans and areas to just have some fun that only stretch about 1 mile on this road. I have yet to get on my favorite road that is in Long Island called the southern state parkway but i will make my way up there sooner or later.

Once i got off the highway i am in Inwood (upper Manhattan 207th street) heading back to the Bronx and you can see how tight traffic gets once i am heading back over the bridge and also how having a motorcycle is amazing to just skip by everyone. This kind of traffic a common thing during the school year. Well guys Enjoy the ride

Harley Davidson Forty Eight Cruising up 125th street Harlem Bx48 using G...

Hi 48er's,

I am glad to announce that this is the best video quality of any of my films to date. Thanks to Roger (My little bro) he pushed me to make my video quality better. I got use to doing it a specific way that didn't really showcase the true potential of the camera's video quality and thanks to him and youtube i achieved a better quality.  I am also happy that this was an iconic ride for those that love New York City.  To see how 125th street has changed over the years and for me to bring that to you was awesome. I did miss a few of the blocks east of park ave but got some great footage of the rest heading westward.

It was a pleasant 70 degree day and the traffic wasn't horrible on two fifth. I took it a little easy because the police officers don't play around on Two Fifth ( 125th shortened by New Yorkers..) They will pull me over and give me a ticket in the area for lane splitting real quick. I got stopped by a ninja assassin (yellow taxi) to ask me about the camera on my head, which i found funny because i was just talking shit about his car and how i hated all yellow cabs.

There was also a funny part where i stalled, caught me off guard because it has been a long time since i have stalled lol. I ran into a fellow biker on a Honda Shadow had a quick conversation on video and his pipes sounded amazing.  (Man i need some pipes ASAP! lol) Enjoy the ride

Harley Davidson Sportster Forty Eight Lane Splitting & Cruising on The F...

Hi 48ers,
I got out for a ride on the FDR (Franklin D. Roosevelt) East river drive. I was a little upset because if the traffic would have been good i would have been able to get further downtown and make it to the Brooklyn Bridge which i wanted to do a video of. Since the traffic Gods didn't allow it i decided to go down the historic 125th street. Which was on my target places to go and film for you guys.

One route to 125th i encountered traffic and a little lane splinting was in order even tho it was a little on the tight side on the FDR it was still manageable. I had a fun and enjoyable ride down to 125th even tho everywhere i went there was traffic. I hope you enjoy the ride.

GoPro Hero 3 Harley Davidson Sportster Forty Eight Cruising back to Manh...

Hi Bx48er!

This is my final video for the week. This is the last bit of film from the Top speed video. I took the ride back from my unsuccessful visit to home depot. I ran into a Home Depot employee that mistook me for someone and i told him he did look like Jaime Fox lol. For some strange reason that is pretty common for me. Someone is always telling me that i look like someone else maybe i have a common face but i will tell you one thing Bx48 is a handsome dude lol. On this video i did allot of voice dubbing over the highway parts since you are going to hear wind.

I was having some random conversation giving some shout outs to some of my new subscribers. Which are Sonny Six, Zag Nagi, Melfat and Bvanyperen from Netherlands. My bad Bvany in the video i said Sweden i will fix it with a caption. The ride was smooth quick and to the point off to the gas station. Hop you guys enjoyed it. Setting up for next weeks adventure it is looking like i am heading to the FDR and give you the east side of Manhattan.

I am having a great time making these videos and i am getting better feed back from youtubers and Tweeters. Thanks for the support everyone.

Harley Davidson Sportster Forty Eight - Top Speed NYC Go Pro Hero3

Hi 48ers!!

This is my latest video on my youtube channel. If you aren't a subscriber do so because i have a ton more riding to do this year and bring you guys some great shots of New York City. I did this video with the intention of making a Top Speed video of the Harley Davidson Sportster 48. I haven't seen one yet online, so i figured why not?

This day wasn't the best day to do this kind of video because the wind gust was pretty high and for those of you that ride know that riding fast in high winds sucks, especially if it is a cruiser and naked bike. There are no aerodynamics what so ever so you feel every wind blast. If you know Harley Speedometers you know how fast i was going. I had a little of a close call because traffic stopped suddenly due to a construction truck so in the beginning half of the video you will see the bike going from like 80 to 45 50mph in like 3 seconds which suck on a Harley because the breaking system for the sportster aren't the greatest and the last thing you want to do is lock up your wheels when you are going that fast.

To add insult to injury a dam Livery cab also tried to cut me off shortly after, so.. it was not meant to be the 100mph day. I give a big shout out to the Up and Out crew (Pita21, Andyr6 and Alex Malo) for letting me hang with them when i was learning to ride. Those rides thought me allot of riding in tight, close, fast and dangerous situations lol Big shout out to Roger for the lessons in CRUISING. I am not on a supersport anymore.

I want you to keep in mind that i do not advise anyone attempt or duplicate these actions please follow your local speed limits especially if you are learning or beginning to ride. Speed is loads of fun but it can take 1 mistake and a little fear to turn a fun ride to a really bad one.

Harley Davidson Forty Eight Stock exhaust, Sportster 48 with Vance Hines...

First ride of the week. I had the chance to bump into another Harley 48 Sportster. Something i never really expected to happen. I never run into other 48's. Last 2 seasons i have been the only 48 i seen on the road in NYC.

It was a pleasure to meet him we had a little chit chat and talk 48. I really enjoyed the sounds of his Vance and Hines exhaust which roared like an animal. Unlike my 48 that pur's because they are stock. Until i get a chance to buy one for my bike IT WILL DO. This was a trip to Riverdale i decided to just turn the camera on and film a little. Luck for me i did. Hope you guys enjoyed the ride.

Harley Davidson Forty Eight Cruising on The Grand Concourse The Bronx NY...

Hi 48ers!
This is my final video for the week. This video was a continuation film of my Yankee stadium run but i felt that making it about the just the Grand Concourse would be cool video because the Concourse has allot of history. Even tho i didn't talk much abut the history of the Concourse i wanted to offer a little advise about riding a motorcycle with 1 hand and warn new riders a little about the dangers of filming and riding.

As you see i am get caught off guard grammatically and i horribly phrase a few things because i am getting the hand of talking and riding. I see it as part of the learning curve. I am first focusing on safety and then the conversation so bare with me on this lol. I hope you guys enjoy the video.

Shelby's Motorsports Motorcycle showroom Bronx New York Motorcycle Eye ...

Hi 48ers!
Today was an adventurous day running numerous errands and getting some work done. In the mix of it all i had a chance to stop into Shelby's motorsports located on 1444 Commerce Ave, Bronx, NY. This was the very first  motorcycle showroom i had ever been to. It gave me the boost i needed to make that leap and jump into getting my first bike, so i was pleased when the sales person gave me the go ahead to do a video walk around of the store. I am almost certain i was smiling like a kid while filming.

The video i capture shows all of the latest model super sport, Dirt Bikes, Scooters, sports bikes and cruisers from manufacturers like Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki. Which in any motorcyclist sight is all eye candy. Hope you guys enjoy the walk through and subscribe to my channel.

Harley Davidson Softail Fat Boy w/ Vance & Hines 2 in 1 Big Radius Exhau...

Hi 48ers,

Did a quick walk around of my little brothers Harley Davidson Softtail Fatboy. This is probably one of the sexiest sounding exhaust i have heard. The exhaust system is the Vance and Hines 2 in 1 Big Radius. You will feel the ground shaking, your body vibrating and music to your motorcycle loving ears.

I have taken this bike out a few times when we have been on trips and i tell you this bike is a dream. It handles great the clutch is like butter and the pull you get from the V twin is amazing. I love riding when my brother is around because he clears the way with the loud pipes since i still have the stock pipes on my bike, i am still semi invisible which in New York City is a little scary. Cars in the city don't see motorcycles so we live by the phrase "Loud Pipes Save Lives".

Hope you enjoyed the video.

Harley Davidson Forty Eight Sportster (BX48) Cruising around Yankee Stad...

Hello 48ers!
It's been over a week since my last blog due to the crappy weather we have been having in New York City. I took advantage of the one decent day this last Sunday, 46 degrees and light wind to make the ride to Yankee Stadium and bring you guys some new footage. I am learning new things on video editing like dubbing my voice over the section that i was riding on the highway and unable to talk because of the wind overwhelming my voice. My youtube bud Pgod1960 enjoyed it and i hope you guys do to. My apologies to Guztav! I was trying to remember your name during the ride Bro but, i had so much going on. I will give you a big Shout out on the next ride.

I got a chance to make 2 reels out of that one ride which should be the next video which is a cruise on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx. As the weather gets better i will be going to better locations and bring you guys awesome NYC footage (I will be going to queens and Brooklyn also) and some good conversation.

Enjoy the ride, BX48 OUT

Harley Davidson Forty Eight cruising on Broadway 90's UWS NYC GoPro Hero3

Taking a ride on the Upper West side 90's up to about 110th. It was chilly 50 degree day and i was doing a test video on the  GoPro and how it records on the highway, which lead to my previous video (Harley Chasing Chevy SS). Finally some good fottage came about after the highway run. I was frozen since i wasn't riding with any winter gear and once i started cursing i started thawing out. I was very happy that the engine heat was keeping me warm while i was going local on Broadway.

One part of this video i want to point out  is when the i was next to the city bus, the bus driver was looking at me like i was insane for talking to the camera. what can i say? i can only do what i do baby! lol. I  recent got a comment on my youtuber on my channel and i was I was really touched by the comment below.

Youtuber: Tales of a bike shed
"really enjoying seeing the city from your perspective. Nice bike too! Keep 'em coming buddy the channels great! Remember,to you this is where you live, to us watching, particularly from overseas, we don't get to see this stuf..."

This is what makes what i'm doing worth it and i am grateful for those that enjoy the videos in the US and overseas. I was getting a little exhausted figuring all this video editing, dealing with an old computer but got inspiration when i needed it the most, thank you Tales of a bike shed.

I am continuously working on improving the editing and video quality with every ride and video so you can get the best view out of the rides. I am finishing up my longest video to date wish me luck. Enjoy the video.

Harley Davidson Sportster 48 Chasing a Chevy SS on West Side Highway usi...

This video is part 2 to my cruising through the Bronx. I got on the West side highway which was surprisingly empty. I loved the empty cruise on the highway until a 70's Chevy SS decided to just fly right by kind of taunting me to go. I needed to catch up to it to see it up close because it is such a beautiful car and i didn't feel like letting anyone dust me today so i made chase.

Took a little crisscrossing and finally caught it. Forty eight max speed is around 90 to 95mph. Not an enjoyable speed to ride on a completely bare bike but you know you have to test your bike especially when you have the open road. Back to the topic is the SS could have dusted me on a long stretch but he was just cruising too and it turned out to be a great video. Hope you guys like the video subscribe to my youtube page and like! BX48 OUT!

Riding and Rain

A few good things i wanted you guys to know to be Safe out there when it starts to rain. First don't panic then be aware of the subjects that i list below. Being extra cautious when riding in the rain can mess up your whole day, not only do you have to deal with the cars on the road the elements during and after the rain could screw up your whole ride and could possibly get you hurt. I found some great material from Soundrider.com that i wanted to share with you.

Surface Textures - Many commercial and residential parking areas are paved with very slick concrete surfaces.  Your wet entry into the local mall or condo complex can put you on the ground in a second.  Again, ride slow and straight up and don't let the concrete bite you.
Rubber - If you thought you might save some money by buying long lasting tires, think again.  Such tires are typically not as tacky and have less traction when the rain comes out.  Next time you change tires look for the tackiest one that will take care of you better during your northwest riding adventures.
How about that rubber they use around railroad tracks to decrease the sound as cars drive over them?  Forget those little circles on the surface, these provide zero traction to you as you cross.  Slow and straight up.
Steel - Manhole covers are enemy number one and railroad tracks rank a close second.  Making a turn over the surface of them sets you up for trouble.   Avoid such, or keep the bike straight up and cross over it slowly.
Railroad tracks have a way of popping up on you just after a turn and you may still be into a lean when you reach them.  Look for the crossing signs ahead of time, slow down and stay straight up when crossing.
Grated bridge crossings and metal plates are a nasty encounter in the rain.  Look at where you want to ride, take it slow and don't try any fancy dancing, particularly a lane change.
Water - Puddles/Pot Holes - It only takes once to know how this one feels.  You cruise through a puddle and after it's too late you realize you just went into a pot hole that wants to suck you into the underworld more painfully than Satan himself beating you down with a stick.  Avoid puddles if you can.  Use caution and predict the possibility ahead of time.  Recovery from this rude awakening is not always easy.  Pull over and take a few minutes of rest if you need to gather your wits.  In 1997 the Seattle Times reported that the DOT only had enough funds to patch 60% of the potholes created in the state that wet winter.
Oil - It's everywhere and very illusive.  Those little red and blue rainbows on the ground mean danger.  Ride slow and straight up.  As per the DOL's motorcycle safety manual, if you're caught in the first rain following a few dry days remember the roads are covered with lots of oil and dirt that will be lifted from the surface in the first 30-60 minutes of a new rain.  Take a coffee break if you can.
Ride Safe,
Patrick Thomas - Winter/01
